Originally founded in 1977 Oracle Corporation became the main vendor of relational database management systems in the mid-1980s. In the mid-1990's Oracle expanded its product range with (i) datawarehousing and reporting software and (ii) business applications software. More recently, in December 2004, Oracle acquired PeopleSoft and with it JD Edwards. By this acquisition Oracle entered the market of enterprise resource planning. Early 2007 Oracle released e-Business Suite, a collection of enterprise resource planning applications in which parts of JD Edwards and Peoplesoft products have been integrated with Oracle's own software solutions.
